AbstractBased on the transformational leadership theory (Bass, 1985), the aim of the present study was to analyze the differences in leadership styles according to the various leading ranks and the organizational follower-leader distance reported by a representative sample of 975 local police members (828 male and 147 female) from Valencian Community (Spain). Impacts of Emotional Intelligence and Leadership on Motivation in the German Hotel Industry

This paper aims to clarify the role of leadership and emotional intelligence in the motivational process of employees in the hotel industry. A review of relevant literature is done before a tentative model is presented to experts from the fields of leadership, emotional intelligence and the hotel industry to get their view on the constructed relations. After having been approved by the experts, the model has been tested with structuring equation modelling (SEM) based on a quantitative research among employees and leaders of the hotel industry in Germany. The positive relation among leadership and motivation as well as the moderating effect of emotional intelligence could be substantiated.

The present chapter reviews all previous chapters of this book. Overall, the chapters offered many new perspectives on PSC research and practice. The validity and usefulness of the PSC concept was applied in Malaysia, Australia, and Iran, and for the first time in Canada and Germany, and in occupations (humanitarian work, university personnel) not investigated previously. Leadership provides a strategy to deal with intense competition and high customer expectations in the hotel industry. This paper analyses the ability of managers’ transformational and authentic leadership to predict customer satisfaction. A sample of 18,944 customers and managers of eight hotels in the Canary Islands was used for the analysis.
